RELIGIOUS MATTERS- Megan Boyd

SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION:

The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King (Thirty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time),

John 18:33b-37
Jesus is questioned by Pilate about the charge brought against him that he is “King of the Jews.”

Jesus told Pontius Pilate that his kingdom did not belong to this world. Jesus was not an earthly king. We believe that he is the king of heaven, our Lord and Savior. He came to teach us the truth about God the Father’s love and forgiveness. He showed us that he was the King of Peace. and he showed us by example how we should use our head. heart and hands to serve others.

STUDENT DISCIPLESHIP RETREAT – EXURO Year 5 2021

The Scripture for our Discipleship Retreat was -  "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young but be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith and purity. – 1 Timothy 4:12

During the Exuro retreat, our students participated in fun games, viewed videos, listened to reflective music and responded to questions that challenged their faith. The retreat had them thinking about what a Christian can do in today's world, and how can they be living disciples of Jesus.

During the farewell prayer, our students were given a small battery light candle and a prayer card to remind them that they can build a relationship with Jesus by listening to him in prayer. In the future may the loving Spirit of Jesus guide them always when decisions need to be made.

THE SPIRIT OF JESUS  - MAKING JESUS REAL  (MJR)

At St Joseph’s Woodburn we encourage our students to “Make Jesus Real’” and live the Gospel Values by the way they act in our school community, while at home and out in the wider community.

What are Gospel Values?

Welcoming ( Luke 9: 48)

Kindness ( Matthew 15:32)

Forgiving people - (Luke 18 1-10)

Being grateful - (Luke 17: 11-19)

Saying thank you ( Matthew 15: 35-37)

MJR at St Joseph’s Woodburn encourages our students to be WEST people - that is WELCOMING, ENCOURAGING, SAY SORRY when needed and be THANKFUl.
If we have the spirit of Jesus in our hearts, then we are kind, compassionate, welcoming cheerful, giving, forgiving, encouraging, cheerful, friendly and thankful.
