Principals Message

Dear Families

As this will be the last Newsletter for Term 3 due to the short week next week I wanted to say a big thank you for your continued support throughout this term. Thank you to our wonderful students for your ongoing efforts in learning and friendship and thank you to our dedicated staff for all that you do to inspire the best.

VALE QUEEN ELIZABETH II 1926-2022

Many people have been taking the time this week to reflect on the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, as the days of mourning following her death, continue.

As a School, we call to mind the many values Her Majesty espoused and lived during her 70 years of reign. We can learn much from her example:

  • The importance of service to others: as shown through Her Majesty’s dedication and selfless service up until her 96th year
  • The importance of giving hope to others: as shown through her Majesty’s annual Christmas message and visits during important occasions and disasters.
  • The importance of being there for others: Her Majesty’s presence with her people in times of trouble and need.
  • Her unwavering faith, and
  • Her calmness and integrity throughout.

The Student Representative Council have decided to hold a Royal Day in memory of the Queen for their SRC day this term. Therefore students are invited to wear the colours red, white, and blue on Wednesday 21 September (next Wednesday) or royal dress up on the day.

Thanks, Ma'am for everything!

The COVID-smart settings that students, staff and communities have become used to will continue in Term 3 including:
    • Staying home if unwell or showing any symptoms, and not returning to school or work until fully recovered.
    • Rapid antigen testing for any students or staff showing symptoms and for close contacts who are able to return to school.
    • Maximising natural ventilation.
    • Good hygiene practices for students and staff including regular hand washing with soap and water.
    • Encouraging all students, staff and families to keep up to date with vaccinations, including COVID-19 booster shots when eligible and the flu vaccine.
    • Identifying when schools need to implement additional COVID-smart measures if experiencing rapidly increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.
In addition to these baseline settings, some additional layers this term as extra protection for staff, students and school communities, include:
    • Strongly encouraging all staff, students and school visitors to wear a mask while indoors, particularly during the first four weeks from the beginning of term.
    • Distributing RAT kits to all staff and students in schools (1 pack per person).
    • Boosting day cleaning in schools, with a particular focus on high-touch areas.
NSW Health has revised the COVID-19 reinfection period from 12 weeks down to four weeks effective from 19 July 2022.
