Week 4 Term 3
Dear Families,
We have had a wonderful week of learning and sport this week.
I've had the opportunity to visit classrooms and witness some amazing learning happening throughout the school. From writing and reading in the infants' classes through to Maths in Stage 2 and PD in Stage 3. I am consistently amazed by the children's enthusiasm, curiosity, confidence, explanations and a have-a-go attitude. I am proud of each and every one of them! Please make sure that you as parents take some time to acknowledge what they strive for and achieve on a daily basis.
Yesterday we were lucky enough to witness athleticism, skill, endurance and a whole lot of courage in our belated St Joseph's Cross Country. A big congratulations to all of our students who took part and completed the course. Cross Country is not for everyone. It is not an easy task. However that determination to complete it and the effort needed to give it a go, even if it is walked, is to be applauded. I want to take this opportunity to thank you, as parents for encouraging that in your child/ren. By participating in an event that is not really something that you enjoy is a real-life lesson that will stand by our students as they grow. We are not always going to like everything in life but we need to at least have a go. Congratulation to our age champions, a mighty effort! A big thank you to Mrs Melissa Barnes for the organisation of such a smooth-running event.

- Pick up and drop off will continue out the front of the school.
- We have resumed our Canteen and will continue to offer this if we are able to get parent volunteers to assist. The Parent helpers will be advised of the mandatory hygiene practices at the front office. PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE ON 66822468 IF YOU ARE ABLE TO GO ON TO THE CANTEEN ROSTER FOR TERM 3.
- It is paramount in these times, in particular, that any child who is unwell is kept at home. We appreciate your understanding and consideration for the safety of the other students and the staff.
- Our bubblers will still not to be used and therefore the children require a water bottle.
- Our stringent hygiene practices for our new normal continue with: the washing of hands regularly; sanitiser after eating, no food or drinks to be shared; coughing and sneezing into elbows, tissues discarded immediately, cleaning of the desks between lunch and recess breaks and extra cleaning of the school by our cleaners.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sunday Gospel Reading: 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time
Matthew: 14: 22- 33- JESUS HEALS THE DAUGHTER OF THE CANAANITE WOMEN BECAUSE OF HER GREAT FAITH

The ASSUMPTION OF MARY
On Saturday the 15th August the Church celebrates the Feast Day of the Assumption of Our Lady when according to our faith, Mary the Mother of Jesus, after completing her "earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”
The Assumption signals the time that Mary returned to heaven to be reunited with her son Jesus. Father Michael is offering Masses in the Parish to celebrate this Holy Day of Obligation. Due to COVID, this Solemnity of Our Lady can be kept holy by setting aside some time for prayer at home, reading the Scriptures of the day, if possible watching Mass on television or online, and asking God for the graces you would normally receive in Holy Communion.
