Week 2 Term 3
Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 3! I hope that you all had a relaxing and restful holiday with your children. The children have returned to school with enthusiasm and are ready to begin the second semester for 2020!
As changes continue to occur in Victoria and New South Wales in relation to COVID 19 we continue to be watchful and diligent with our health practices and strategies. I want to thank you for responding to our requests and adhering to the changes that ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Semester 1 Reports
Just a reminder Semester 1 report will be sent home next Friday (Week 2) and that this is an adjusted report because of blended learning.
The Parent-Teacher meetings that we normally have at this time of the year, will not be held because of the COVID restrictions. Please contact your child’s teacher if you require further information at this time.
Junior Joeys postponed
Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions and guidelines, we have had to postpone the Junior Joeys Kindergarten 2021 program for Term 3. We are working to have a shortened version in Term 4, if permitted. We will contact parents as soon as the program is approved to run.
Congratulations Stage 3
Congratulations to our Stage 3 students for their efforts with their NAIDOC Week block poems. This week Mrs Naomi Moran from the Koori Mail, visited the school to present our students with a prize pack for their work. A special acknowledgement was given to Nyah Roxburgh, Jahli and Ever Brady, Aiden Doren, Millie Bodley and Dylan Harrington for their outstanding poems and artwork.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
School Photos 2020
School Photos will take place this year on Wednesday 19 August. Photo envelopes will be sent home next week.
COVID 19 Practices Term 3
- Non-essential adults will still not be permitted to enter the school grounds. We ask that no parents enter the School past the front office. All inquiries to the front office, please.
- Pick up and drop off will continue out the front of the school.
- We will resume our Canteen Week 2 Term 3 if we are able to get parent volunteers to assist. The Parent helpers will be advised of the mandatory hygiene practices at the front office. PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE ON 66822468 IF YOU ARE ABLE TO GO ON TO THE CANTEEN ROSTER FOR TERM 3.
- It is paramount in these times, in particular, that any child who is unwell is kept at home. We appreciate your understanding and consideration for the safety of the other students and the staff.
- Our bubblers will still not to be used and therefore the children require a water bottle.
- Our stringent hygiene practices will continue in Term 3 with: the washing of hands regularly; sanitiser after eating, no food or drinks to be shared; coughing and sneezing into elbows, tissues discarded immediately, cleaning of the desks between lunch and recess breaks and extra cleaning of the school by our cleaners.
What is bullying Ongoing and Repeated
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sunday Gospel Reading:17th Sunday of Ordinary Time
Matthew 13: 44- 52 - Jesus teaches about the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus taught his followers in parables. Both the Parable of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl have powerful messages.
Like the person who found the buried treasure and the merchant who acquired the pearl of great price, we strive to find the signs of the kingdom of heaven in our lives.
We understand that each day, we can work to bring about God’s kingdom of love by our kind actions and our loving words.
Just like the pearl we are called to shine!
Lismore Diocese Discipleship Program YEAR 4
ACCENDERE RETREAT
Wednesday 29th July
The 2020 Theme is: Friendship and the Gospel focus is the reading ‘And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.’ John 13: 34-35 (From Year 4 Unit- ‘Living The Law of Love’)
Students will be active in a number of enjoyable activities that will give them the opportunity to reflect upon their faith and the value of friendship. To fully participate within the theme of the retreat we ask that students come to school in their casual clothes that feature the colours of a flame and fire eg yellow, red and orange.
We are looking forward to an exciting day of fun, prayer and faith sharing.
