Week 4 Term 3 - 2022
Dear Families
THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY INTO HEAVEN
15 AUGUST
Every year, Christians celebrate when Our Blessed Mother was taken up into Heaven body and soul at the end of her life. It is celebrated annually on August 15.
In Heaven but With Us
Even though Mary was assumed into Heaven, she is always with us. Heaven is our home and Mary wants us to be with her and her Son for all eternity. On the Solemnity of the Assumption, let us remember our Mother who is in Heaven and who loves us very much. We remember her deep faith and her constant trust in God.
We pray that we are inspired by Mary’s life and see her as a model of hope and trust in God.
KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENT MEETINGS
This week I have had the opportunity to spend some time with our Kindergarten students for 2023 and their parents. It is such a joy to have one on one conversations with pre-schoolers. I love their enthusiasm, excitement and initial understanding of all that big school holds. It has also been a good time to talk to both our current and new parents. I am particularly interested to hear why people choose St Joseph's for their child.
From these few responses, we get a snapshot of our school from the outside looking in. We get to know how some of the community feel about the teaching and learning; the inclusiveness; the values; the community, and the Catholic ethos that permeates all. We continue to strive to make St Joseph's the best school it can be,
and in that process, we always welcome and value your input.
WHY CHOOSE US?
- Supportive learning and growing environments.
- So much care and support the students and teachers have
for each other. - A lovely commu
nity feel.
- As the school is quite small, you get to know most people
and feel very welcome. - Wearing a uniform is very important to me.
- Our school is a small friendly and caring school.
- Religion (Mass) regularly.
- All members of our family feel embraced, supported and
included by the staff and the wider community. - The teachers and kids are so caring.
- To be known by a name/family instead of a number.
- Students are accountable- good discipline
WHAT WOULD YOUR RESPONSE BE? .........................

- Rapid antigen testing for any students or staff showing symptoms and for close contacts who are able to return to school.
- Maximising natural ventilation.
- Good hygiene practices for students and staff including regular hand washing with soap and water.
- Encouraging all students, staff and families to keep up to date with vaccinations, including COVID-19 booster shots when eligible and the flu vaccine.
- Identifying when schools need to implement additional COVID-smart measures if experiencing rapidly increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.
- Strongly encouraging all staff, students and school visitors to wear a mask while indoors, particularly during the first four weeks from the beginning of term.
- Distributing RAT kits to all staff and students in schools (1 pack per person).

SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION:
Year C - The 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Luke 12:49-53 Jesus has come to bring peace
In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus is telling us that when we make the decision to follow him, we may face opposition from our peers including our family and friends. Following Jesus might be hard sometimes, but making good choices helps us be closer to God and have peaceful hearts and minds. Remember that Jesus came to bring peace not to condemn.
