CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIRST RECONCILIATION STUDENTS

Last Saturday evening with the support of family and school staff,  6 of our Year 4 students made their First Reconciliation. It was a beautiful liturgy and we are so proud and pleased for Pip Swanson, Sophie Flanagan, Sunni Reese, Rose Quirk, Meluca Jett and Ayla Stahl. We look forward to them making their First Holy Communion on  Saturday 17 September 2022

A big thank you to their parents for supporting the girls in their preparation and to  Mrs Boyd for working to prepare the students and organising the beautiful Liturgy.

    Congratulations girls!

    OUR FURNITURE HAS ARRIVED

A terrific beginning of the week with the delivery of our long-awaited furniture. The children and the staff were so excited and the end result is amazing. The Bunnings tables have done the job while we waited but there is nothing like having the real thing. Another step forward!

    FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND

    THANKSGIVING PARISH SCHOOL MASS

On Saturday 17 September 2022 our six Stage 2 students will be receiving their First Holy Communion. We are so looking forward to supporting them and their families on that very special day.

We would also like to invite our students and families to the Mass to acknowledge the Parish and parishioners for giving us the use of their Church and moving to the Anglican Church for their Masses.

WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL TO FR MAX GOW, FR PETER JONES, AND THE ST JOHN'S CHURCH PARISHIONERS FOR ALLOWING US TO MOVE INTO THEIR CHURCH WHEN WE SO DESPERATELY NEEDED A PLACE TO GROW A SCHOOL FOLLOWING THE FLOODS.

We hope that you can join us to show our community thanks.

    COVID 19 UPDATE

    download_3_.png
The COVID-smart settings that students, staff and communities have become used to will continue in Term 3 including:
    • Staying home if unwell or showing any symptoms, and not returning to school or work until fully recovered.
    • Rapid antigen testing for any students or staff showing symptoms and for close contacts who are able to return to school.
    • Maximising natural ventilation.
    • Good hygiene practices for students and staff including regular hand washing with soap and water.
    • Encouraging all students, staff and families to keep up to date with vaccinations, including COVID-19 booster shots when eligible and the flu vaccine.
    • Identifying when schools need to implement additional COVID-smart measures if experiencing rapidly increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.
In addition to these baseline settings, some additional layers this term as extra protection for staff, students and school communities, include:
    • Strongly encouraging all staff, students and school visitors to wear a mask while indoors, particularly during the first four weeks from the beginning of term.
    • Distributing RAT kits to all staff and students in schools (1 pack per person).
    • Boosting day cleaning in schools, with a particular focus on high-touch areas.
NSW Health has revised the COVID-19 reinfection period from 12 weeks down to four weeks effective from 19 July 2022.

IN WEEK 8 OF TERM 3 WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR:

      SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION:

Year C - The 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

      Gospel Reading
      Luke 15:1-32
Jesus responds to those who criticize him for keeping company with the unworthy.

      forgiveness.JPG

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells three parables, or stories, about something or someone being lost and then found. Our students are familiar with the story of the Prodigal Son who returned home to a forgiving father.

When we make poor choices or do something we know is wrong, we turn away from God and feel lost. God never stops loving us. He looks for us when we sin or miss the mark. He rejoices when we return to him and tell him we are sorry, and he always forgives us and loves us unconditionally.

      ST JOSEPH'S PARISH SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM

      Eucharist.PNG

Everyone is invited and most welcome to attend these Sacramental celebrations.

The children preparing are: Sophie Flanagan, Meluca Jett, Sunni Reese, Ayla StahL, Philippa Swanson, Rose Quirk Please pray for these children and their families, and may their time of preparation be filled with grace and many blessings.

      SPOTLIGHT ON STAGE 2

In Stage 2 the students are enjoying reading the novel ‘The Midnight Gang’. The class co-constructed the success criteria to create a mind map that had keywords, categories, connected ideas, illustrations, and visuals organised to demonstrate their understanding of the text.

Stage 2 is also exploring measurement in Maths. Students are problem-solving rich mathematical tasks by selecting the appropriate unit of measurement and sharing their ideas with their peers.
